Do you have an Attitude of Gratitude? Towards God, those around you and towards your current circumstances! Your answer is probably yes, but are you truly grateful even when things are not going as planned or are you someone who takes what you have for granted?.
A few weeks ago, me and a few of my sisters decided to do ‘gratitude week’ which meant showing our gratitude through the whole week. During this week, I learnt so much about my level of gratefulness and was put to the test on whether I could be grateful during a difficult period. I can say it was a very interesting week and I have now turned it into ‘Everyday Gratitude’. So this month my blog post is focussed on having an Attitude of Gratitude and I want to encourage you all to be more grateful!
Be grateful for what you have and do not focus on what you do not have…💭
Do not forget the amazing things that has happened to you in the past. The goals you have attained, the new opportunities you have embarked on and the beautiful people that you are surrounded with. Be grateful for what you currently have and don’t allow the things you do not have put you down. It is very easy to forget the amazing things and wonderful people that we have in our lives because we are too busy focussing on the things that we may not have or the things other people have that we desire. One thing that I learnt during gratitude week is that focussing on the positive helps us to overcome the problem of focussing on the negative. Try it, trust me it works!!!
It is easy to be grateful when things are going well…🕺💃
When things are going well, it is so easy to be grateful. But what if things are not going so well? True gratitude is when you can be grateful even in hard times. We are told to Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will (1 Thes 5:18).
There is always something to be grateful for…🙌✔
No matter how unhappy you may be with your current circumstances, there is always something to be grateful for. Well your reading this blog so you obviously woke up this morning and can also see. KERCHINGGG! Two things you can already be grateful for. Each day is a gift from God so we should be grateful that we have another opportunity to do better and grateful that there is hope for tomorrow. Every morning when you wake up, think of 5 things that you are grateful for (or write them down) and this will be the first step to you becoming more grateful.🛌
One thing that Joyce Meyer always states is ‘I’m not where I need to be, but thank God I am not where I used to be’. Be grateful that you are moving forward. You may not be where you want to be, but with an Attitude of Gratitude, trust in God and perseverance so many things can change before the end of the year.
Be grateful to God, your family and your friends…💒👨👩👧👧👨👩👧👧
How do you feel when you go out of your way to do someone a favour and they throw it back in your face with ungratefulness. It hurts right? The same way someone may feel if you don’t show them you are grateful, even for the littlest of things. How many times do we thank people or show them we are grateful with small gestures? It can be as small as a smile and a ‘thank you’. Remember we are talking about an ‘Attitude’ of gratitude. Attitude is a settled way of thinking or behaving, meaning you do not just become grateful overnight, but action and consistency are required. Think positive and be grateful!
Final word of encouragement… 😀
Make a decision today to have an Attitude of Gratitude. It will not be easy initially, but keep on working towards this attitude (through your thoughts and actions) and it will help you to be more focussed on your blessings! Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love endures forever (Psalm 106:1).
