How to manage your finances as a full-time worker!

Hello lovelies ❤

So I am back with another post on finances! After my last post, one of my lovely sisters asked for a post on how full time workers can manage their finances. As a full time worker myself I thought I would share some of the ways I manage my finances, or ways that I aspire to. Many of us rely so heavily on pay day and look forward to that day way before the end of the month. But I am learning that if we are able to manage our finances effectively, pay day will be just another day. So, let’s see some of the ways we can do this!

1) Meal Prep

First thing that will save you so much money and more likely keep you eating healthy is to meal prep. Bringing home made meals to work will save you so much money and is one of the best decisions I have made in relation to my finances. Not only will you avoid buying junk food, but to me nothing beats a home cooked meal. And since you’re taking food to work some days in the week, you can try and have days where you spend no money at all e.g. twice a week.

           2) Monitor your account

In the past I had a habit of not checking my account. Sounds silly right? But a lot of us do this. We get carried away with spending and forget to track our spending or even check whether there are unusual funds coming out of our account. When you check your statements constantly, this will let you know when you need to slow down on spending so you don’t finish all of your money and don’t have to live broke until the next payday.

3) Take advantage of discounts

I don’t know why a lot of people don’t make use of discounts or even find cheaper alternatives when buying things. If it means switching a supplier to a suitable alternative for a cheaper price then why not? Some of you have benefits from your work place such as gym discounts, 2 for 1 cinema or benefits from your phone providers or car insurance. Use it! If you know you can get something cheaper or at a discount, then make use of it, it doesn’t make you cheap. And take full advantage of sales and days in the year such as black Friday. You can get that item you have always wanted! You may have to wait a bit but you will at least be  saving you some money.

💫Holiday website deals: Secret escapes, Teletext holidays, Wowcher

💫Other deals: Chicmi sample sales (Discounted London fashion events on designer products), Wowcher, Groupon & Treatwell – Spa Deals,                   Bista Village – designer outlet shopping in Oxford

Please share if you are aware of any other sites or places for discounts! 💫

4) Have a side hustle/invest

In the morning, sew your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand. For you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good (Ecc 11:6)

No matter what, we don’t know what tomorrow holds and it is definitely not wise to rely on your job but wise to rely on God for your provision. So if you do have a side hustle, whether it’s a business, a youtube channel, MUA or another legit way you are making money take it serious. This way you have that extra income coming in apart from your main income. Also if you put aside a small amount each month, if you ever find that things are tight before the end of the month, remember you have that emergency fund to dip into.

5) Surround yourself with like-minded people

And finally, whether you want to believe it or not, who you hang around with can have a massive impact on whether you will manage your finances effectively. Surround yourself with people that love to splash money anyhow, you will eventually do the same. Surround yourself with people who think before they spend, you will eventually do the same. On that note, I will leave you with that thought to dwell on.

💫 Final Word of encouragement

I hope this has helped someone who is a full time worker or someone who wants to manage their finances better. Set yourself financial goals, monitor them & start to achieve them goals! And, if you haven’t read my previous blog post on finance, what are you doing???
